Privacy policy

Short version: the app collects nothing, this website collects nothing, and the only personal data I ever hold is whatever you choose to put in an email to me.
The app
Meowtenance makes no network requests of its own. It does not phone home, has no analytics, no crash reporting, no account and no licence check. Everything it does — scanning, measuring, deleting — happens on your Mac and nothing leaves it.
What the app remembers — your language, which version of the in-app agreement you accepted and when, when you last cleaned and how much was still reclaimable right after, and which cat animations it has already shown — is stored locally on your own Mac in the standard macOS preferences for the app. I have no access to it.
When a category needs administrator rights, macOS shows its own password dialog. The app never sees, stores or transmits your password.
This website
No cookies. No analytics. No tracking pixels. No fonts, scripts or images loaded from other hosts — every asset on this site is served from this domain, so no third party learns that you visited.
The site is served through Amazon CloudFront. Access logging is switched off, so no request logs — no IP addresses, no visit records — are collected or stored by me. Amazon necessarily handles the network request in order to deliver the page, as any host must, but nothing about your visit reaches me.
If you email me
Mail to hello@meowtenance.app is forwarded to a private mailbox. I keep it
for as long as needed to answer you and to have a record of support and refund requests. I
do not add you to any mailing list — there isn't one — and I do not share your address
with anyone.
If you buy
Payment is handled by Polar (Polar Software, Inc., United States) acting as Merchant of Record. Polar collects what it needs to process the payment and meet tax obligations (name, email, billing country, card details). I never see your card details. What reaches me is a record of the sale. Polar is a separate data controller with its own privacy policy.
Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK or another jurisdiction with equivalent rules, you can ask me for a copy of what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Since the only thing I would hold is your email correspondence, this is usually a one-line request. Write to hello@meowtenance.app.
Children
Meowtenance is a developer tool and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Since the underlying answer is "nothing is collected", material changes are unlikely.
