These terms form a binding agreement between you and the developer of Meowtenance. Please read them before you install or buy. They are written to be understood, not to be impressive; where a clause limits your rights, it says so plainly.
Meowtenance is made and sold by İlhan Bayar, an independent software developer based in Türkiye. There is no company behind it — it is one person. You can reach me at hello@meowtenance.app.
By downloading, installing, or buying Meowtenance you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the software. You confirm that you are old enough to enter into a binding contract where you live, and that you are acting on your own behalf or with the authority of the organisation you represent.
A separate agreement is shown inside the app the first time it runs and must be accepted before it will scan or delete anything. That agreement governs your use of the software itself; these terms govern your purchase. Where the two overlap, the in-app agreement prevails on questions of how the software behaves.
Meowtenance deletes files. This is the most important clause in this document.
The app states which of these applies before every run, shows the exact amount, and requires your confirmation. Nothing is ever selected for you. You are responsible for deciding what to delete and for keeping backups. Back up anything you care about before running any tool that deletes files.
Buying the full version grants you a personal, perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the major version you bought — currently version 2 — on Macs you own or control. The licence covers every update within that major version (2.1, 2.2 and so on) for as long as I publish them. It is a one-time purchase for that version: there is no subscription, no licence key and no activation server.
A future major version is a separate product and a separate purchase. If I release version 3, it is not included. What you bought does not expire when that happens: your licence to version 2 is perpetual, I will not disable it, and you may keep using it indefinitely. Whether existing customers are offered a new major version free or at a reduced price is my decision at the time, and nothing here promises it.
If you buy as an organisation, the licence covers use by your personnel on machines the organisation owns or controls.
You may not:
The free version scans every category and cleans the defined categories as a whole. Choosing individual items within a category, deleting simulator devices and Folder inspection are features of the full version. The free version is licensed under these same terms, excluding the licence to those features.
Purchases are processed by Polar (Polar Software, Inc., United States) acting as Merchant of Record. Polar is the seller for the purposes of the transaction: it takes payment, issues the invoice, and collects and remits any applicable sales tax or VAT. Polar is the name that appears on your card statement. I never receive or store your card details.
Prices are shown in US dollars. Depending on where you are, tax is either already included in the price or added at checkout — Polar shows the tax separately either way, before you pay.
Meowtenance is digital content delivered immediately on purchase. If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or a jurisdiction with equivalent rules, you have a statutory right to withdraw within 14 days of purchase.
That right can be given up for digital content, but only where you expressly consent to delivery starting immediately and acknowledge that you thereby lose it. The checkout does not ask for that consent, so you keep the right.
You get the same 14 days either way. Independently of any statutory right, I offer a full refund within 14 days of purchase for any reason or none. See the refund policy. Where your local law gives you something stronger, that law applies.
Updates within the major version you bought are included at no extra cost, for as long as I publish them. A new major version is a new purchase — see clause 4. I do not promise a particular release schedule, nor that any specific feature will be built or kept, nor that updates will continue indefinitely.
Support is by email and is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis by one person. There is no guaranteed response time, though I aim to answer within two working days.
The software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. I do not warrant that the software is free of defects, that it will run uninterrupted, or that it will behave as expected in every environment or on every macOS version.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply only to the extent permitted, and any implied warranty is limited in duration to the shortest period the law allows.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, I am not liable for any loss of data, loss of work, loss of profit, business interruption, or any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages arising from the use of or inability to use the software — even if the possibility of such damage was known.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, my total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you actually paid for the software in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Your licence ends automatically if you materially breach these terms — in particular the restrictions in clause 5. It also ends if you receive a refund. On termination you must stop using the paid version and remove it from your machines. The free version remains available to you, as it is to everyone.
Clauses that by their nature should survive termination do so, including clauses 10, 11, 13, 16 and 17.
You confirm that you are not located in, and are not acting on behalf of anyone located in, a country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions, and that you are not on any applicable restricted-party list. You may not use or export the software in breach of applicable export control or sanctions law.
Apple, Mac, macOS, Xcode and Swift are trademarks of Apple Inc. Adobe, Illustrator and Photoshop are trademarks of Adobe Inc. Figma, Slack, Visual Studio Code, Spotify and other product names are trademarks of their respective owners. They are used only to describe which files the app cleans. Meowtenance is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of these companies.
All source code and artwork in Meowtenance is original. It contains no third-party libraries, stock assets or licensed fonts. I retain all intellectual property rights in the software; this agreement grants a licence to use it, not ownership of it.
These terms may change as the product changes. The date at the top shows the current version.
Changes are not retroactive. The terms in force when you bought remain the terms that governed that purchase, for the version you bought.
I reserve the right to change these terms, and the agreement shown inside the app, for new versions and updates. You are not obliged to accept a change: you may carry on using the version you already have, under the terms that applied to it. Your licence to that version is not withdrawn and I will not disable it. The only thing you cannot do is install a newer version while declining the terms that come with it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, excluding its conflict of law rules and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul, Türkiye have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, none of this deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, or of your right to bring proceedings in the courts of that country where the law gives you that right.
Before starting formal proceedings, please write to me first. Nearly everything at this price is faster to solve by email than by lawyers.
